Blood Type Diets – Going on a Diet According to Your Blood Type

Several years ago, a very interesting idea regarding weight loss came into being. The idea is keeping to a diet by blood type. This concept provided the answer to the ever-lasting question: why not all diets work for all people.

There are 4 main blood types, and according to the above mentioned idea, each type represents a body type. If you eat food, which is right for your type, you will easily lose weight. On the other hand, most problems with weight result from eating the wrong food. Besides, there are types of exercise, suitable for some types and not suitable for others.

A lot of people followed the eating plan for their blood type and many achieved perfect results. According to the theory, different blood types evolved at different times of human history. Thus, “O" type blood evolved first, as it is the simplest one. At that time, the agriculture has not yet been developed, so people ate meat and greens, and had a lot of exercise.

Try Eating The “Right" Food

The blood type “O" diet is low-carbohydrate, low in dairy products, and high in proteins from meat and fish. The foods to be avoided by people with “O" blood type are oranges, avocados, and Brazil nuts.

People with “A" blood type should avoid red meat, but they should eat vegetables, fish and dairy. As for the exercises, only light ones are recommended. For instance, breakfast can include grapefruit juice, herbal tea, coffee, or oatmeal with soy milk. Lunch can include apples, one slice of wheat bread, or a Greek salad. For dinner, yogurt, broccoli, or herbal tea is recommended.

People with “B" blood type should eat a lot of meat, dairy food, vegetables, fruit, and some fish, and avoid chicken and bacon.

People with “AB" blood type are lucky – they can combine the diets of “A" and “B" blood types.

During the past years, many people have tried this plan and lost a lot of weight. However, there are a few problems with it. First of all, there is no scientific evidence proving that people with different blood types are physiologically different. Then, some of the blood type diets are very strict. This especially concerns the “O" type diet, and it is supposed that those restrictions can result in the problems with cholesterol in the long run.

However, if the theory is baseless, how can one explain the weight loss experienced by so many people? Actually, it may be quite simple. Any of the four eating plans recommend to eat healthier food. So, these diets make you lose weight anyway, regardless of your blood type!
